The Best Man Should Help the Groom

The groom may also require some private time before the ceremony. If he does, be prepared to keep as much stress and “busy” activity away from him as possible. During this quiet time, you may also want to have your own alone time with the groom to reassure him, help him with his vows, and provide any support he might need. He will most likely need some help remembering the order of wedding speeches.
Find ways to create a temporary sanctuary for him in a quiet room away from the crowd of people who will be clamoring to be in his presence.
Ensure that the groom is dressed and in place at least 30 minutes before the ceremony begins.
If neither the best man nor the groom knows how to tie a tie, make sure someone in the groom’s party does and keep that person around for this small emergency.
The couple will give you a sealed envelope with the officiant or church fee in it. You should give this to the priest/officiant before the ceremony begins. It is best to do it immediately after you arrive at the church so that you won’t forget it.
