BEIJING, May 20 -- The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Sichuan Province rose to 40,075 nationwide as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, while 247,645 people were injured, according to Xinhua.

BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in China's major earthquake rose to 34,073 as 12:00 a.m. Monday, according to the earthquake relief headquarters of the State Council.

And 245,108 people were injured in the 8.0-magnitude quake that jolted southwestern Sichuan Province on Monday.
