In the sixth day since Monday's massive quake and more than 130,000 troops from China along with special teams from Japan, Russia, South Korea and Singapore are pressing ahead with search and rescue efforts to find any remaining survivors.
As of 4 p.m. on Saturday, over 33,000 people had been rescued. Meanwhile more than 4.8 million disaster-affected residents have been temporarily relocated.
PLA officials say the troops are now heading for more rural areas to continue their rescue efforts. They say they have already carried out evacuation work in all of the 58 hard-hit townships in Sichuan province.
