S: What is the function of taking the body's temperature?
N: Body temperature is used in conjunction with the other vital signs ( respiration , pulse and blood pressure ) to assess the patient's present condition.
S: What is contraindication while taking the temperature orally?
N: Oral temperature with clinical thermometer should not be taken by children below 4-5 years of age ( danger of injury to mucosa , inaccurate if mouth open and danger of biting thermometer).
S: What other kinds of patients can not use oralthermometer?
N: The patients who can not open or close their mouth because of facial handicaps or injuries or nasal obstruction due to tubes or injuries.
The patients with mouth infections and unconscious can not use oral thermometer. |
